In honor of Suicide Prevention Week and Month, Institute on Aging is hosting our annual recognition of survivors of loved ones who have died by suicide or other traumatic loss.

This tribute will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Doors will open at 12:15. No refreshments will be served, but all are welcome to bring in their own beverages.

Dr. Patrick Arbore, EdD, Founder and Director of the Center for Elderly Suicide Prevention and Grief Related Services (CESP), and the Founder of Friendship Line, will host and facilitate this gathering.

A diverse panel of people will speak about their losses and their trauma recovery process. The panelists will be members of Dr. Arbore’s ongoing grief group, and have kindly agreed to speak about their own losses to suicide or traumatic death—losses which includes their struggles, their challenges, and their survival.

In addition, we invite all attendees to bring a photo or photos of loved ones who have died, regardless of whether the deaths were a result of suicide or any other type of death. We want to honor all loved ones who have passed. We will also recognize the survivors, who continue living despite the pain associated with grief.
