Who We Are
Institute on Aging (IOA) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that touches the lives of thousands of seniors in San Francisco, Marin, and the Peninsula each year. IOA's mission is to enhance the quality of life for adults as they age by enabling them to maintain their health, well-being, independence, and participation in the community. We fulfill this mission for a diverse community by developing and providing innovative programs in health, social service, creative arts, spiritual support, education, and research.
These are the values that guide our work:
For those we serve: We continually develop our knowledge, skills and resources to provide programs and services of highest quality. We will serve all with respect and care, without regard to income, race, religious preference, or sexual orientation.
For their family and friends: We are sensitive to the concerns and responsive to the needs of family, partners and friends.
For the community: We advocate together with others in the community for needed services and programs. We maintain close collaborative relationships with other community organizations and agencies.
For those who support us: We recognize that your time, financial support and interest make our work possible. We value this support and will utilize these resources wisely, working together to enhance the lives of those we serve.
A New Home
In September 2008, IOA will begin construction on a new Senior Campus facility. The new building is designed to house many of our programs under one roof. It will also provide affordable housing for seniors, which will be owned and managed by Bridge Housing. This building will help IOA to continue to serve and strengthen our community with innovative services and comprehensive resources.
