When someone you love is living with dementia, every day matters – and every day brings new challenges. That’s why Institute on Aging’s Enrichment Center, located in the scenic Presidio of San Francisco, offers safe, engaging dementia care program where adults with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can connect with others, participate in enriching activities, and enjoy meaningful structure.
For caregivers, it’s more than peace of mind – it’s a chance to rest, recharge, and breathe, knowing your loved one is in expert hands.
The Enrichment Center is part of Compania™, Institute on Aging’s (IOA) comprehensive dementia care program. Compania is led by dementia-trained professionals who deeply understand the unique needs of memory loss. This innovative dementia day program nurtures the whole person – promoting physical movement, mental engagement, emotional comfort, and meaningful social connection. As part of the Compania experience, members may experience:
It’s care that nurtures not just your needs, but your overall well-being.
Every day at the Enrichment Center offers something new – creative projects, gentle exercise, shared meals, nature walks, and more. Our goal is to help each participant feel seen, supported, and connected.
All programming is led by dementia-trained staff and supported by IOA’s decades of experience in senior care and cognitive wellness.
We understand the concern many families hold that dementia care will feel clinical and impersonal. The Enrichment Center is different in that it creates a community-based experience where dignity, joy, and connection come first within a natural setting unlike any other.
The Enrichment Center is a trusted dementia day program serving families across San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
My sister - who has dementia - goes to the Enrichment Center twice a week. This is her happy place. They have numerous activities to help slow down the cognitive decline. Most importantly the staff at the Enrichment Center do an outstanding job of managing needs and behaviors related to dementia. As one staff member said “we make sure (my sister) feels like we see her”. This is such an important value that cannot necessarily be taught.

As the caregiver for my husband, it warms my heart and eases my mind to know unequivocally that he's being mentally stimulated, cared for, and is safe. It's as though the Enrichment Center staff is an extension of our family. They are at all times anticipating the needs of my loved one, as well as mine.

Set in the beautiful Presidio, the Enrichment Center blends comfort, calm, and connection with nature – which can improve mental health and sharpen cognition. We combine evidence-based programming with the serenity of the outdoors to create a truly enriching experience.
The Institute on Aging Enrichment Center is a beautiful site for me to leave my loved one while I receive respite, and where my loved one can be stimulated intellectually as well as physically.
